Submission: Consultation on Strengthening the Modern Slavery Act

The Australian Anti-Slavery Commissioner has provided a submission to the Australian Government’s consultation on Strengthening the Modern Slavery Act. The submission supports the strengthening of the Modern Slavery Act’s mandatory criteria and enforcement framework, to improve reporting quality and consistency, and ensure a level playing field for business. The submission also emphasises the need for measures that drive meaningful action, and calls for the Government to move ahead with consultation on a due diligence obligation and high risk declarations.
