What is Human Rights Due Diligence
This Brief offers Australian businesses, investors, policy-makers and other stakeholders a high-level introduction to ‘human rights due diligence’. It has been developed to accelerate and strengthen implementation of human rights due diligence by businesses operating in Australia, including to support effective risk-based responses to modern slavery.
It aims to clarify what human rights due diligence is and how it supports effective management of human rights risks in business operations and value chains.
This Brief is published in line with the Australian Anti-Slavery Commissioner’s functions under section 20C of the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth) (MSA) including to support Australian entities to address risks of modern slavery practices in their operations and supply chains. The Brief is aimed primarily at businesses reporting under the MSA, but may be of interest to other businesses.
