Lived Experience Advisors: Activities

The Office's Lived Experience Advisors contribute to national advocacy, policy development and public engagement on modern slavery.

Their work spans four key areas, aligned to the Office's Strategic Plan 2025-2028:

Access to justice – Supporting the Office's work to improve detection of modern slavery, strengthen criminal justice responses, and help survivors and workers access meaningful remedies.

National response agenda and strategy – Informing the Office's advocacy for Australia's next National Action Plan on modern slavery, including research, policy design, and lived experience consultation.

Business engagement and support – Helping shape guidance and tools that support businesses to identify and address modern slavery risks in their operations and supply chains.

Lived experience engagement program development – Supporting the Office to build a strong, sustainable foundation for engaging people with lived experience, including trauma-transformative practice and wellbeing support.
